Norbert Kurilla

Norbert is an economist, executive leader and experienced diplomat with strong expertise and competence in strategy and policymaking on environment, climate and energy at national or international level including the EU, OECD or UN. Last year he completed sustainability professional education program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. Before had served as the Special Sustainability Adviser to the President of Slovakia Zuzana Čaputová (2020-2024). He was Vice-president of the sixth United Nations Environment Assembly (2023) and is former Climate and Environment State Secretary at the Slovak Ministry of Environment (2016-2020) and Management Board member at the European Environmental Agency (2014-2016). Respected Slovak "green" diplomat who served as a negotiator and representative in Brussels (2007-2015). Co-founder of a successful business-driven platform "Circular Slovakia" (2018). Nowadays he is entrepreneur, mentor and advises several innovative clean tech and green start-ups. He acts as the Vice-chair of the OECD Green Action Task Force and is a Council Member at the European Council on Foreign Relations.
