Ambassador Kamel has over 38 years of experience as a career diplomat. Before his posting in Bratislava, he was Assistant Foreign Minister for Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands, and served as Ambassador of Egypt to Japan. Prior to that, he held the position of the First Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs in Egypt, and served as a Consul-General in Sydney, and as a Consul and Deputy Chief of mission in several countries including Italy, Mexico, and the Sultanate of Oman. Throughout his career, Ambassador Kamel participated in various international conferences and conventions of the UN and other organizations, dedicated to global and regional development trends, smart innovations and sustainable urban strategies In November 2024, Ambassador Kamel was honored with Japan's highest state decoration when Emperor Naruhito personally awarded him with the prestigious Order of the Rising Sun Gold and Silver Star.
